Gideon Adey - Chair of Governors

My wife and I have lived in Pinner for the last 11 years, moving into the area from Harrow when our eldest daughter joined reception at West Lodge so that we could walk to school more easily. Our elder two daughters are now both at Bishop Ramsey whilst our youngest is currently in year 4 at West Lodge. The school has formed the kernel of our Pinner life.

Although I graduated From Leeds with an engineering degree (many years ago now) my work has been in media trading, initially in sales but predominantly for advertising and media agencies and most recently focusing on audience data analytics. Both of my parents were educational professionals, so the importance and durability of education had always been instilled in me. Especially important are the formative years, where we develop our joy for learning and our thinking skills.

I believe the Governing Board’s role is in supporting the professional teaching staff and management of the school whilst offering an external and objective viewpoint – the phrase ‘Critical Friend’ is often used to describe a Governor’s role and I think it sums it up very well..

As Chair of the Governing Body my additional responsibility is to ensure that the Governing Body as a whole operates effectively, a responsibility I share with the Vice Chair, and the Chairs of the two standing committees. All governors play a vital role in the school and each brings their individual skills and commitment to the role -  it is a great pleasure to work alongside such dedicated and giving people.

I feel very proud to be allowed to be part of the West Lodge Primary School Governing Body, and will endeavour to assist the professional management team in shaping the school for the benefit of all pupils.
