To launch Year 3's topic on the Romans we had a Celtic Experience Day. The roundhouse being the perfect setting for the day, where most of the activities took place. The children made salt dough spear heads, they drew Celtic designs as well as learning about how sheep's wool was made into yarn that could be woven. The children also braided bracelets which were then dyed using natural dye.
The day ended with an exciting demonstration of the different weapons the Celts used and how they fought with them. At one point we had a mini battle of our own with children v the teachers!! We finished with a traditional Celtic story, performed by the visiting teachers. A great day had by all!
