  • Local MP, David Simmonds, Visits West Lodge

    Mon 29 Nov 2021

Our local MP, David Simmonds, came to West Lodge to see how the school is developing children as leaders and to gain a better understanding of the school's commitment towards the UN's Sustainability Development Goals.  As part of the visit, David Simmonds had separate meetings with all the school councillors in each phase, where he explained his role and was also quizzed by the children on his commitment to climate change.  David Simmonds tweeted later that day, commenting on how inspired he was on the children's engagement and commitment to climate change and how much he enjoyed the flapjacks made by Diane our chef!

  • Festival of Light

    Fri 12 Nov 2021

The West Lodge Festival of Light was opened on Friday 12th November by the Mayor and Mayoress of Harrow.  They met with the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl, Vigya Nahata (FOWLS) and Mrs Vaghela (RE Leader) and officially opened the trail by lighting two diwas.  The Festival of Light was organised to illustrate the importance of light to all major religions, to show how light is represented in different ways and to demonstrate that all major religions have a common theme of light: “We have far more in common, than that which divides us.” Over the last few weeks, and as part of the half-term homework, children worked hard to create beautiful pieces of artwork that showed how light was represented in a particular religion. This was displayed in the nature trail. All children walked through the trail during the day time with their classes. During the evening the nature trail looked magical and many families enjoyed walking through the trail.

  • Meat Free Mondays

    Mon 01 Nov 2021

One day a week can make a world of a difference. As part of our school's sustainability drive, we are introducing Meat Free Mondays after the half term. Having at least one plant-based day a week is a fun and easy way to do something good for the planet and our future. Reducing our meat intake is good for the planet, it boosts our health, reduces animal suffering, helps alleviate world hunger and protect biodiversity.
