• West Lodge Girls' Football Team – Middlesex Champions

  The West Lodge girls’ football team represented Harrow in the Middlesex ESFA Tournament which was held in Enfield on Thursday 27^th January. They performed heroically to finish 2nd in the group and make the final. It was a nail biting final, which went to penalties and saw West Lodge become victorious winning 3-1 on penalties. They are now through to the South East England regional Finals.

  

• Year 3 Children Start to Receive Their Blue Peter Green Badges

  This week Year 3 children have started to receive their Blue Peter Green Badges. They wrote to Blue Peter about three pledges they had committed to, to help the environment and tackle our sustainable goal of climate action. The three pledges committed to were:

   

  1)  to turn the tap off when brushing our teeth;

  2)  power pledge - to turn off switches when not in use to save energy;

  3)  to check recycling is done correctly at home. 

   

  The children wrote letters during their writing lesson to explain how they completed and committed to the pledges.  Riya and Elyssa in Maroon Class are proud owners of their Blue Peter Green Badge, which arrived in the post this week.

  

• Poem by Anya Khatri in Year 6, Sapphire Class

  Anya Khatri in Sapphire Class wrote her own poem entitled 2021 as part of the poetry recital challenge – the poem beautifully captures everyone's experience of the previous year. Well Done Anya!

  2021

   

  What a funny year 2021 has been,

  A great loss for the Queen.

   

  The COVID stone - we all got fatter,

  The people stood up for lives that matter.

   

  We rejoiced in a chance, and thought it would come home,

  Delta became a common name as we quarantined alone.

   

  The laptop was put away for a brief time,

  But in January we all returned online.

   

  The news became more grave with every passing day,

  But most of us were vaccinated by the end of May.

   

  Omicron threatened to cancel Christmas Day,

  But the party went ahead - Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!

   

  What a peculiar year, 2021,

  I for one am glad it’s done,

  Looking forward to what 2022 brings,

  Let’s just hope, that it sings!

• Year 3's First Ukulele Lesson

  Children in Year 3 were very excited to experience their first ukulele lesson. A specialist ukulele teacher from the Harrow Music Service is teaching the children and they are working towards performing a concert at the end of term.

  

• Ancient Greece Workshop for Year 6 Children

  Year 6 were treated to a fantastic Ancient Greece workshop on Wednesday 5th January. The children came to school dressed for the occasion and they thoroughly enjoyed acting out different scenes related to those times.  The Year 6 Kaleidoscope children joined Greek day with their peers - working together with their peer group to perform/role play the story of Odysseus and the Cyclops.
