  • new outdoor classroom

    Tue 07 Nov 2023

This week we officially opened our new outdoor classroom and the children have been enjoying using the space. We shared the following script as our pledge to ensure that this space provides inspiration for the pupils and staff of West Lodge to learn more about their special place within the web of life and ensure that we look after our part of the planet in a sustainable way. We have woven our vision and core values into the pledge.

    Pledge

Here amongst the beauty of nature, we gather united, inaugurating our outdoor classroom – an inspiration for learning and nature connection beneath the open sky. With awe and reverence for our part within the web of life – we pledge to cultivate knowledge – embracing the whispers of the wind and the teaching of the trees.

In this space we commit to fostering a space where curiosity flourishes; resilience blossoms and the diverse community of life thrives. An inclusive space where all are welcome.

Our innate kindness to the natural world emerges within us and with a sustainable mindset, we pledge to tread lightly, leaving only positive imprints on the earth.

Within our sparks ignited, we promise to carry the wisdom gained here into the world, creating ripples of positive change. With this pledge, we declare our new outdoor classroom open, a boundless realm of inspiration!

  • New Michael Rosen Library opened!

    Mon 13 Mar 2023

We were delighted to welcome former pupil, Michael Rosen, to West Lodge this week. As part of his visit, Michael hosted assemblies for children in all year groups, performing his poetry and inspiring all of us to read, write and perform poems of our own. He had the whole school hall in hysterics!

Michael also officially opened the newly renovated Michael Rosen Library and met with our Year 6 librarians, answering all of their fantastic questions.

This week Year 2 went on their trip to the Hare Krishna Temple in Watford. They had a fantastic day in the sun and enjoyed exploring the gardens, visiting the cows and going on a cart ride. The children had the opportunity to visit a Hindu shrine and wear traditional Indian dress. The trip was a great opportunity to bring the RE lessons we had taught this summer to life.

  • Year 6 Performance - The Greatest Show!

    Wed 13 Jul 2022

This week, Year 6 gave the performance of their lives in The Greatest Show! The children have been working hard for weeks to prepare for the show which was about the sabotage of Pickle's Perambulating Palace of Performers (a Victorian circus). All of the children really impressed with their acting, singing and dancing. They were confident and enthusiastic, and made their teachers extremely proud! It's safe to say, that they really did put on the greatest show!

  • Lower School Sports Day

    Tue 12 Jul 2022

Year 1 and 2 had their Sports Day on Tuesday 12th July and it was a great day. There was a mixture of races (relays and individual) on the field and other sporting challenges on the playground. Each class represented a country competing in the Commonwealth Games this summer in Birmingham. The classes came out to their chosen country's national anthem and received a warm reception from all their friends and family in attendance. All races on the field and events on the playground were completed with desire, skill and team-work, which was lovely to see. Family, friends, PSD coaches, staff members and year 5 students were so supportive all morning and it really helped spur the children on and perform at their very best!

What a lovely day we all had at this year's Summer Fair.  It was wonderful to see so many students, staff, parents, alumni and residents of the suburb, back together again celebrating what was a glorious summer day. It was amazing to see the whole community eating, laughing, chatting and having so much fun together. Thank you all so much for making it one of the most memorable days for the West Lodge community.

  • Year 5 and 6 Cricket Squad - West London Champions!

    Tue 05 Jul 2022

On Tuesday 5th July, the Year 5/6 cricket squad travelled to Ealing Cricket Club to take part in the 'West London Final'.  Having won our pool and group matches and been crowned Champions of Harrow - the team felt proud to represent the Borough of Harrow at this prestigious event.

On the day, ten teams represented five different boroughs - Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow and Hounslow.  The teams were initially split into two different pools and, after some amazing performances from the boys, we won all four of our matches to finish top of our group; the boys showed such skill, grit and determination to win against St Stephen's, St Gregory's, Byron Court and then Heston.  After a well-deserved rest and lunch break, we met Pinner Wood in the Final . It was great that the two Harrow teams had reached the final! We had met Pinner Wood previously in the semi-final of the Harrow tournament where the game had to be decided by a Super Over (West Lodge won by 1 run) after the match was initially tied - the pressure was palpable.

In the final, we batted first and built a defendable score with some big hitting from the boys.  Our bowlers, as they had done throughout the whole day, then bowled with accuracy and finesse.  Pinner Wood required 13 off their last over however, we managed to restrict them to only 7 runs, a run out on the last ball due to the quick thinking of Arjun secured the victory.  As a result, we are proud to announce that we are now officially the Champions of West London - an accolade to be so proud of.  Congratulations to the whole squad and thank you again to our parents for all the support and flexibility.  WE DID IT!!!!!
