West Lodge

Primary School

Welcome to the FOWLS section

A very warm welcome from the Friends of West Lodge School committee.

Friends of West Lodge School (FOWLS) is a registered charity (Registered charity No. 282766).

Our aim is to raise money for the benefit of all the children at West Lodge School, and arrange social events for the school community. As parents/guardians of children attending West Lodge School, we are all automatically members of FOWLS, and therefore all part of the fundraising team.

Over the past few years, FOWLS has contributed towards the installation of the CCTV, vital for the safety of the children while at school; a Celtic Roundhouse; wonderful playground equipment; a new  playground for Kaleidoscope specifically for SEN children: the Upper school library, new lunch wrist bands, new books for the classrooms and the library and  much more.

Over the last two years we raised approximately £45,000 for the school through our various fundraising events.

Our Current Committee is headed by;

Vigya Nahata   Year 3 and 5      Co-Chair

Bijal Vaducha     Year 2     Co-Treasurer
Mita Chakrabati    Year 5           Co-Chair  Anil Awasthi       Year 5      Co-Treasurer

 How Do We Raise Funds?

Volunteers are vital for the success of every event that we run and we really appreciate any time or support that you are able to offer. FOWLS is a Charity and is run by a dedicated committee of parents who have volunteered to give up some of their time to organising events throughout the school year.

Match Funding

If you are working, your employer may be able to donate to FOWLS on your behalf, through a scheme known as Matched Giving. They will either match the amount of money you raise for us or give you time off in lieu for the time you spend helping FOWLS. Each employer has their own rules for the scheme and many companies, big and small, participate in it. The document below titled Information on Match Giving explains this scheme in more detail.

We are supported by a number of local businesses for our events. Local estate agent, Gibbs Gillespie, sponsors our public events, donating prizes and advertising outside the School and at local addresses. If you would like to host a board before any of our events please contact us.

How do we ensure your data is safe with us?

The General Data Protection Regulation has been in effect since early 2018. FOWLS do not collect any personal information from the school, so anything you provide to us, you agree to do so willingly, and for the purpose intended. Your details will not be passed onto any third party, without your prior consent. Any information we collect will be securely stored and will be disposed of within 1 month after the event it was intended for.

Upcoming FOWLS Events

We would love to invite the children to show off their Computing skills with this fantastic new challenge. Please see the attached document to read more about this event. You can register your child on Classlist Events page.
Six speakers from different health sectors will talk about various topics. This event is for children and parents alike, so don't miss out! Please see attached document for the list of speakers and topics covered. Kindly show your support by donating what you can on the Classlist Events page.
VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR (01.03.21 - 08.03.21)
This year our Book Fair will be a little different. We are inviting families to upload photos of your unwanted second-hand books on Marketplace on Classlist. Other families can then reserve these books on a first come first basis by commenting with the name and class of their child on the posts. You can then label the books and send it to school with your child. We will then organise and send them out with the children after a period of quarantining the books.

We would like to encourage families to pay a donation of 50p per book to FOWLS, by clicking on the GET TICKET link on the Classlist Events Page. Thanks again for your support.
Please look out for our newsletter next week confirming the dates to drop your second-hand uniforms to school and the date and time when you can buy new ones. It'll be a good idea to sort the uniforms this weekend!
Once again thank you very much to all parents and carers for supporting the school charity. The funds raised from these events are all used for improving the facilities provided by school to our children. Please continue to support the FOWLS Team in whichever way you can.
We would also love to hear from you about what you think went well and what we could do to improve the events. Please drop us an email on or just message us on Classlist.
