On Wednesday 6th October, Year 5 visited the Chiltern Open Air Museum. We all dressed as Victorian teachers, children, maids, masters, chimney sweeps, etc. The day involved three different workshops:
- Laundry day - the children learnt to wash and dry clothes using the appropriate soap and mangle. They then had fun hanging the washing up on the line in the wind.
- Cooking - the children participated in the making of scones over an open fire.
- Classroom - the children were taught by a Victorian teacher. They chanted their times tables, honed their handwriting skills using ink pens and learnt about the different and terrifying discipline strategies used during the Victorian era.
A great day had by all - so much learnt whilst also having fun.
