Festival of Light
The West Lodge Festival of Light was opened on Friday 12th November by the Mayor and Mayoress of Harrow. They met with the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl, Vigya Nahata (FOWLS) and Mrs Vaghela (RE Leader) and officially opened the trail by lighting two diwas. The Festival of Light was organised to illustrate the importance of light to all major religions, to show how light is represented in different ways and to demonstrate that all major religions have a common theme of light: “We have far more in common, than that which divides us.” Over the last few weeks, and as part of the half-term homework, children worked hard to create beautiful pieces of artwork that showed how light was represented in a particular religion. This was displayed in the nature trail. All children walked through the trail during the day time with their classes. During the evening the nature trail looked magical and many families enjoyed walking through the trail.
